Snack Review: Tao Kae Noi Crispy Seaweed Snack

As someone who admits to having a bit of an obsession with all products of Asian origin, I was really excited to try these once I had seen them reviewed a couple of times.  Determined to immediately get my hands on a package, I trudged out to my snow covered car (thank you Midwestern weather), spent several minutes scraping it off (officially giving myself frostbite in the process), and drove carefully down to my favorite Asian market.  I was fairly surprised once I arrived at the many flavor varieties available for purchase.  Who knew that crispy seaweed came in flavored pretty much any way your little heart desired?!

I spent about ten minutes in the snack aisle, looking stupidly at the same packages over and over again, trying dutifully to make up my mind on just one flavor to try.  It didn't happen, folks.  Not in least.  I walked out of there with four different flavors and two brands in my little grocery bag.  Go figure.  I'm only going to review my favorite brand, Tao Kae Noi.

Tao Kae Noi produces several varieties of their crispy flavored seaweed snack.  I bought the original and Tom Yum Goong flavors.  The original was by far my favorite, and I highly recommend trying this flavor for your first purchase.  The snack starts off crispy, then becomes semi-chewy in your mouth as the crispiness breaks down, which I found pleasantly surprising and really enjoyed.

Each package contains 40g, and 2 servings at 20g a piece and only 80 calories.  It is a satisfying snack in replacement of chips or crackers, and an interesting flavor profile to try.

BUY IT!
